FIRST VICE COMMANDER: Membership is currently at approximately 50% which is a great showing in only 1-1/2 months of pushing the Early Bird renewals. You will get the Labor Day cookout for free with the renewal.  Also, we have been informed that the Department of Virginia is planning a $5.00 increase in dues starting 1 Jan 2010. I would suggest you renew early before 1 January and save some money. On 9 Oct ’09 we will be having a Casino night at the Post. It is a group effort to put this together. It will start with a meatloaf dinner from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. for Children & Youth. At 7:30 p.m. the games will start in the hall with a special events license.  At 11:00 p.m. until midnight we will count the chips and prizes, all for Children & Youth. For God and Country, Jerry Mason

CHAPLAIN: We will have a Post Everlasting for Legionnaire William E. Simmons on Tuesday, 8 September ’09 at 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. For God and Country, Rob Edwards

POST ATHLETIC OFFICER:  Well, baseball season is over.  We had a 12 and 4 regular season record and finished 2nd behind Post 60 in the Second District.  The Second District Tournament was held at Indian River HS.  We were the second seed and went up against Post 280 Indian River in a good ballgame and took a hard loss 6 to 4. The next day we went up against Post 60 who had lost to Post 204 FC. It was a great game except for the 4th inning when a few errors allowed Post 60 to score 4 runs and we lost that game 4 to 3. That was one of the best games I have seen in Legion ball in awhile. That ended Post 327’s season. Post 60 went through the loser bracket and won the 2nd District Tournament.  They went on to Glen Allen outside of Richmond for the American Legion State Tournament and finished 3rd in the state.  Richmond 157 went on to the regional’s to represent the State of Va. Coach Butler has asked to stop by at the September meeting to say hello to the members, so let’s have a good turnout.

Don’t forget the bowling tournament in Feb 2010 in Danville.  Applications will be available in November 09.   For God and Country, Jim Norton

ALA PRESIDENT: Hello Ladies: On September 4th we will have our annual "skit" for Children and Youth along with a spaghetti dinner. Please come out and support us and have a great time.

The picnic is the 6th, it would be great if everyone brought a covered dish to help out.

On September 7th we will be presenting a check to the MDA Telethon as a Legion family, and we will also be manning the phones at the telethon from 10:00 a.m. until Noon.

On October 2nd we are having the Vets from the Hampton Hospital to the Post home for their Annual Fish Dinner.

October 26-30, we will be having our haunted house in the hall. We had a great response last year.  Let's make it better this year. Tell your friends and neighbors to bring their kids out.

Please don't forget to renew your membership.   For God and Country, Nancy Bell

SQUADRON 327 COMMANDER: Greetings Comrades,  Well summers about over and the children will be heading back to school soon.  Please watch out for them while driving around town.  We partnered with the Post and Aux. to buy school supplies for all the local elementary schools.  Membership is doing ok but we still need to catch up from not having cards at the July picnic.  Please drop by Post or send a check and we will mail your card. Also please give Dave the Birthday dates for all renewals. National wants to get an average age of all members in order to come up with a paid for life membership.  Help with ticket sales is always needed, so come on out and join the team so we can keep helping our community.          For God and Country Steve Gower Sr.

BOWLING LEAGUE: The League’s starting date is Sunday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m. If you did not attend the meeting please be at the Gator Bowl on Little Creek Amphibious Base ½ hour early to sign up and pay sanction card fee which is $20.00 for both Men and Women. CLUB MANAGER:  Again, a few reminders: Have your membership card with you at ALL times when in the Legion, (hall or clubroom).

If you have a bottle in clubroom or in a locker, check date - make certain date is within ninety (90) days – ABC regulation.

Please support meals served at the Club - remember 100% of profits go to charities.  Also, please be patient when being served - all meals are prepared and served by volunteers. These volunteers give freely of their time in order to promote purposes of our organization...where would we be without our volunteers? All functions - picnics, meals, dances, etc. are done by VOLUNTEERS. Have YOU volunteered lately? Your help is needed.

A Halloween Party is being planned for in the clubroom - watch for flyer - cash prizes!! For God and Country, Sandra Wright
