NOVEMBER 2007
COMMANDER’S CORNER: First, I would like to inform everyone that the Post’s 60th Anniversary
Dinner/Dance has been changed to just a 60th Birthday party at the Post on December 7th in the club
room. Further details will follow in the December newsletter. Well, this year is really flying by
and your 2007 membership cards expire next month, so be sure to get your membership renewed if you
have not already done so. I would like to thank all of those who have renewed so far. This year
the Veterans Day parade will be on Monday, the 12th of November at 9:00 a.m. at the Beachfront.
I would like all those available to help us represent the Legion in the parade. Happy Thanksgiving!
For God and Country, Byron L. Pianalto
FIRST VICE COMMANDER: Membership is going well, but could be better. We are just over 70%,
and with a good final push, we could make our 100% by December 31. For God and Country, Byron L.
Pianalto
SECOND VICE COMMANDER: Well, we are now really gearing up for New Year’s Eve. In case you
haven’t heard, we have booked “Premium Blend” to be our entertainment for the party. The festivities
are really shaping up. Tickets will be on sale this month, so please look for them soon. I look
forward to filling the place up for a good time. For God and Country, Gary L. Rodencal
CHAPLAIN: We will have Post Everlasting for William F. Rellos and Theodore T. Sakis on the 13th of November at 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. For God & Country, Robert Edwards
SERVICE OFFICER: YOUTH COAT DRIVE -The cold weather will soon be upon us, and there are many children in the Hampton Roads area that will be without warm clothing/coats for the winter. I will be holding a Youth Coat Drive until Saturday, December 1, 2007. The staging area will be the main entrance at the Post in which a box will be placed for donations. Please, donate clean and like new coats only, NO worn out, torn, or foul-smelling coats. Thank you in advance for your contribution. Also, I am at the Post every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month between the hours of 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. to assist in the Service Officer position; however, if you or someone you know needs my immediate service, please do not hesitate to call me on 757-404-6111. For God and Country, Angela Faith Ellis
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY PRESIDENT: Hello Ladies. Well, we all know that November is the time for the holidays to start. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving. Remember your membership dues. December 31st is right around the corner, which means it will be the last day your 2007 card is good. You can mail in your dues or just stop by to pay them. Our meeting this month will be on the 6th. November 9th we will be going to Washington D.C. for the Healing Field. That is where we will be placing 1000 3” X 5” Flags around the Mall for the Veterans who served in Vietnam and the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you would like to go we will be leaving the Post at 5 a.m. Our dinner this month will be November 2nd. This will be Joyce's “killer” dogs. The Jr's breakfast will be the 4th Sunday. The Angel Tree will be going up right after Thanksgiving. Just take an Angel, buy the gift, and then bring it back unwrapped. We will make sure it gets to the right person. The holidays are a special time for most of us, but we must remember there are people who may be having a hard time, so that’s where we can help. This is a time to give. Thanks to all who helped at the Vet’s Fish fry. I would like to also thank all who helped with the show for the Vets, being that I was not able to stay for that part. It broke my heart that I had to leave shortly after they got here. They are very dear to my heart, so thanks everyone. Way to go David! I hear they loved you. For God and Country, Dawn Thomas
SQUADRON 327 COMMANDER: Hello everyone. I would like to thank all who came out to
our meeting on Monday night. I encourage all of you who haven't been here for a while, to please
come back and get involved. THIS IS YOUR SQUADRON! If there is something you don't like that
is keeping you home, please let us know. We are always looking for new ideas to make this squadron
work for everyone. One of the projects we adopted this year is the Fisher House located at Portsmouth
Naval Hospital. I am pleased to report that we purchased and delivered 7 clothesbaskets and 7 large
tubs of laundry detergent. This was one of the items on their wish list. They are going to update
the list bi-monthly so we can continue to help out. I attended the District Meeting at Post 190
on Sunday and asked for support from our other squadrons in helping out with the Fisher House. I
would like to get our young members together for a work party on a Saturday morning to plant fall
flowers and mulch flowerbeds. Little things like this go a long way in helping our veteran’s families
feel better while their loved ones are being treated at the hospital. Any parents who would like
to help with their young S.A.L. or juniors please give me a call at 348-4642. It was great seeing
all the children dressed up in their costumes at the Halloween Party. For God and Country, Steve
Gower, Sr.
ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT: I want to Thank Luther "Smitty" Smith for the great job
on the flowers outside in front of our building. BZ! Also, thank you Lee and Ralph for your contributions.

from the Thanksgiving dinner will be served. Refer to the newsletter calendar for scheduled entertainment
and dinners. Also, please support our dinners. They are part of the fundraising for our charities.
For God and Country, Sandra Wright
HUMOR: I received the following in an email: Earl and Bubba, two good ole boys from
Dixie,
were quietly sitting in a boat fishing, chewing tobacco, and drinking beer, when suddenly Bubba
says, "I think I'm going to divorce my wife. She hasn't spoken to me in over 2 months."
Earl spits, sips his beer, and says, "You better think that one over, women like that are hard
to find."
EDITOR: Thank you DeDee, Angela, Carl Carney, Bob Durand, Jim & Rose Pearson, and everyone else who helped me with dinner last month. Note: I was asked to mention the handicapped parking spaces. If you are able to walk without assistance, please save the handicapped parking space for the handicapped members who really need them. May God bless each of you with good health and happiness. For God and Country, B.J. Miller-Nobles
