FIRST VICE COMMANDER: Membership renewals are in desperate need to achieve our goal for this year. We still have several members who have not renewed. Please renew your membership for 2009 if you have not already done so. For God and Country, “Skip” Kelly
ALA PRESIDENT:
Hello Ladies. Our meeting
hours have changed to Exec Board (6:30 p.m.) and Regular meeting
(7-8:00 p.m.) Well,
the bowling tournament is over, and it was a great success. The
Vets from the VA Hospital will be here on the 6th of March for a
fish fry dinner. We will need a lot of help with the dinner. We
usually have about 50 veterans come over for the dinner. The
St. Patrick's Day Parade is coming up on the 14th - come out and
enjoy the parade. FIRST NOTICE: Our nominat- ing committee
is taking names for anyone interested in holding an office for the
upcoming year. If you are interested contact Cathy Rook or
Victoria Carney at the Legion. Elections are in May. The 8&40 is
having another yard sale in April. We are looking for donations for
the sale. Anyone interested in going to the Spring Conference in
Virginia Beach, please contact me @ 583-8603. Don't forget to renew
your membership if you haven't done so. Help us make our 100%.

SQUADRON 327 COMMANDER: Greetings Comrades! First I would like to thank Charlie Gower and James Doty for braving the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean and jumping in to raise $610.00 for the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. We will be having the Shamrock Massacre Boxing match in the hall on March 21st at 6:00 p.m. Advance tickets will be on sale at $10.00 each or $12.00 at the door. This will be a fundraiser to help us build a new playground for our children. Please come and support this fundraiser. This is also the weekend for the Spring Conference at the Virginia Beach Resort Center on Shore Dr. & Great Neck Rd. The S.A.L. meeting will be on Sat. at 1:00 p.m. This is a fun conference to attend as all the leading candidates will be having Hospitality rooms for all of us to meet them and enjoy some FREE food and drinks. There are some open on Friday night and on Sat. afternoon and night. Let’s show everyone coming to town why Tidewater Post 327 is one of the Best posts around. We are one of the largest and should have the largest turnout. The playground project has been approved and Russ Abrams is the Chairman. Please see him to offer any help. The Poker Run will be on June 14th. More info is coming, but contact any SAL officer or Legion Rider for details. Flyers and letters will be out soon. I'm proud to say that Travis Ansell has been accepted this year to Boys State. Travis has been a member of our squadron 18 years, and we will be sponsoring him. I'm sure he will do a great job and get a lot out of this leadership program. Also thanks to everyone who came out and brought dishes for the Super Bowl Party. What a great game. Attention NASCAR FANS. There will be a sign-up sheet in the club room to gauge interest in getting a bus trip to an upcoming race. Please sign up and select which race you would like to attend. If we get enough interest we will charter a trip. For God and Country, Steve Gower, Sr.

HUMOR: From my email- A father asked his 10-year-old son if he knew about the birds and bees. Bursting into tears, the child said: “I don’t want to know.” “Promise me you won’t tell me.” Confused, the father asked what was wrong. The boy sobbed, “When I was 6, I got the “There’s no bunny” speech. At 7, I got the “there’s no tooth fairy” speech. When I was 8, you hit me with the “There’s no Santa” speech. If you’re going to tell me that grown-ups don’t really get laid, I’ll have nothing left to live for.”
