SQUADRON 327 COMMANDER:  Greetings Comrades!  First, I would like to congratulate B.J. Miller, our new Post commander and all of her new officers.  It looks like a good mix of people, and I’m looking to another great year working together.  We also need to congratulate our CO-SONS OF THE YEAR, Andrew Evans and Ross Gower.  These 2 young SALs are getting a good start, attending Spring and Fall Conferences, marching in parades, traveling to Washington, D.C. to help with the placement of flags for the Healing field, and working with the Juniors with Sunday Breakfast.  They are setting a good example for the rest of us.  Let’s not forget about upcoming events, Legion College and the State Convention.  These events are for everyone to attend, not just the officers.  FINAL NOTICE, elections will be held at our June 9th meeting at 7:30 p.m.  Please come out and show your support for the Squadron.  I am pleased that we are able to join the Post in helping the Suffolk tornado victims with a $200 donation.  We also donated $275.00 to send 1 young man to Boys State.  Working ticket sales and Friday night dinners enable us to do this.  Please come out and join the fun.  For God and Country, Steve Gower, Sr.

ASSOCIATION CLUB MANAGER:  A big THANK YOU goes to Daniel “Gus” and Teresa Gustafson for their assistance in getting our tree cut down.  It saved the Association a lot of money.  I am seeing cars left in the parking lot for over 24 hours.  If your car or truck breaks down and must be left for over 24 hours please notify the club manager.  Parking is at a premium during special events, and the weekend.  So please try to move your car or truck ASAP.  For those of you having a locker problem, please be patient.  I’m working on fixing the problem.   For God and Country, Jim Martin

ASSOCIATION CLUB MANAGER:   Please refer to the calendar for dinners and entertainment, if none are listed, call the Club (587-2641).  Dinners are served on a “first come, first served” basis.  We are not a restaurant and can only prepare for so many.  We apologize if this causes an inconvenience for some.  We are all volunteers.  Funds raised on dinners support our charities.  Anyone helping in the kitchen MUST have a Food Handlers card.  You may get your card at the Huntersville Neighborhood Service Center at 830 Goff Street, Norfolk.  There’s a $10.00 Administrative fee.  Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays.  Registration is from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. On Thursdays there is also an afternoon registration held from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Class starts promptly at 3:30 p.m.  Evening classes are also available from February through December 2008 with registration starting at 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  For more info call 683-2709.  Always have your membership card with you when you are in the Legion.  Someone could spot check.  It’s a regulation.  Hope you are having a wonderful summer.  For God and Country, Sandra Wright

HUMOR:  From my email:  He said:  “I don’t know why you wear a bra, you’ve got nothing to put in it.”  She said:  “You wear pants, don’t you?”  He said:  “Shall we try swapping positions tonight?”  She said:  “That’s a good idea, you stand by the ironing board while I sit on the sofa and watch TV.”  He said:  What have you been doing with all the grocery money I gave you?”  She said:  “Turn sideways and look in the mirror!”  Q:  “How many honest, intelligent, caring men in the world does it take to do the dishes?”  A:   Both of them.  Q:  “How does a man show that he is planning for the future?”  A:  He buys two cases of beer.”  Q:  “What’s the difference between men and government bonds?”  A:  The bonds mature.  Q:  “Why are blonde jokes so short?”  A:  So men can remember them.  Q:  “How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?”  A:  We don’t know, it’s never happened.  Q:  “What do you call a woman who knows where her husband is every night?”  A:  A widow.  Q:  “Why are married women heavier than single women?”  A:  Single women come home, see what’s in the fridge, and go to bed.  Married women come home, see what’s in bed, and go to the fridge.

EDITOR:  I would like to thank the members for their confidence in electing me as their new Post Commander.   Thanks to the outgoing officers for all of their hard work this past year, especially Byron.  Hopefully, we will have another successful year.  Congratulations to Nancy Bell and all of her new officers and to Lee Forest for receiving “Lady of the Year”.  I look forward to working with the Auxiliary and Sons this coming year.  Membership:  Please pay your dues if you have not already done so.  We are at 95% and need 100% by July.  I look forward to seeing you all at the convention in Falls Church in July.  Please support all Post activities.  I hope everyone had a great time at the Memorial Day picnic.  I know I did.  Thanks to the post committee chairmen who got their reports to me on time.  Please continue to report any community service hours and all expenses/contribution that you have made.  Also, we need people to step up to the plate and be a chairman of one of several committees.  May God bless each and every one of you with good health and happiness.  For God and Country, B. J. Miller.
