FIRST VICE COMMANDER: Now that the holidays are past and 2009 is here, all members who have not renewed for 2009 are in arrears. There is no late charge or penalty. It’s still just $30.00, so put a check in the mail or, better yet, just come by the club and see me. I am there just about every day from around 1700 to 2000. If you miss me just leave it behind the bar in the club room and I will mail your card to you or the next day it will be behind the bar for you to pick up. Just let your choice be known. If you know of someone who hasn’t renewed, please remind them to do so ASAP. WOW, that would really be great. For God and Country, “Skip” Kelly
SECOND VICE COMMANDER: Thanks to all the volunteers that helped with the New Year’s Eve Party. I hope everyone who attended had a wonderful time. Our next event will be the Memorial Day picnic. I hope to see you there. For God and Country, Mike Bukowski

ATHLETIC OFFICER: Post 327 is going to host the 2009 American Legion State Bowling Tournament the 28th of February and 1st of March at the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Norfolk, VA. Gator Bowling Lanes. We are expecting around 150 to 200 out-of-town legionnaires. We are looking for some door prizes, nothing real big, just something they can take home with them. Please look around your home between now and the 15th of February 2009 to see if you have anything you might have received for Christmas or your birthday that you will not use. If you have something to donate, please bring it to the Clubroom and give it to the Post Commander or one of her officers, the Auxiliary President or Vice President, so they can save it for the tournament. I will post a sheet in the lobby of the clubroom for anyone who would like to help with the tournament or would like to bowl and are not on a team. Team applications can be found on the Post web site www.legion327.org. Please don’t hesitate to call Jeff Evans. For God and Country, Jim Norton
ALA PRESIDENT: Hi Ladies. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year. Our Christmas party for the kids was great. Santa Claus was a big hit. Thank you to all who helped us with the party. The New Year’s Eve party was fantastic. As the New Year begins, I would like to remind everybody we still need your dues renewal. We are at 75%, but we have a goal of 100% by the end of January. Please help us make that goal. We are having a blood drive on Sunday, 11 January from 9 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Remember, you can help save a life with 1 pint of blood. For God and Country, Nancy Bell
SQUADRON 327 COMMANDER: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL! I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and my best wishes for a great year ahead. I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Children's Christmas Party and the Association Adult Party. It was a good time for everyone! I also would like to thank everyone who purchased a gift from the Angel Tree. It really means a lot to the children who got something new for Christmas. Congratulations to Mrs. Henry of East Ocean View for winning the Lazy Boy Recliner that the SAL raffled off. Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets. We raised $500.00 that we will donate to CHKD. Special thanks to Dawn Thomas and husband for donating the chair so we could give to this worthy cause. Because of your support we were able to donate locally over $1500.00 in December. We will start our Friday Night Dinners again this month and rotate every other month with the Juniors. We are serving Steak Subs on the 16th of this month. Please come out and support us so we can keep on doing the good work supporting our local charities. I wish some of you who don't come up and get involved with YOUR SQUADRON would start the year off and come and see not what WE can do for you, but what YOU can do for us and your community. I think during these hard times for all or us it's a good feeling being able to lend a hand and help. Sometimes it's hard to do something alone, but together we can do wonders. For God and Country, Steve Gower, Sr.

HUMOR: A young man wanted to purchase a gift for his new sweetheart and as they had not been dating very long, and after careful consideration, he decided a pair of gloves would strike the right note, romantic but not too personal. Accompanied by his sweetheart’s younger sister, he went to Dillards and bought a pair of white gloves. The sister purchased a pair of panties for herself. During the wrapping, the clerk mixed up the items and the sister got the gloves and the sweetheart got the panties. Without checking the contents, the young man sealed the package and sent it to his sweetheart with the following note: “Darling, I chose these because I noticed that you are not in the habit of wearing any when we go out in the evening. If it had not been for your sister, I would have chosen the long ones with the buttons, but she wears short ones that are easier to remove. These are a delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and they were very soiled. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really good. I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt other hands will come in contact with them before I have a chance to see you again. When you take them off, remember to blow into them before putting them away as they will naturally be slightly damp from wearing. Just think how many times I will kiss them during the coming year!" All My Love. P.S. I understand the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little fur showing.
