JANUARY 2007
COMMANDER’S CORNER: Hope you all survived the holidays. Our best wishes for a wonderful new year. It would be nice if you would make a New Year’s resolution to come to the Post meetings. In December we gave our first “Attendance” prize for having 25 members not counting the Post officers, at the meeting. Our Law and Order awards night will be 23 January 2007 at 8:00 p.m. There will be a pre-awards dinner at 5:00 p.m. at a cost of $10.00 per person. Please try to attend this dinner and meeting, as we had a poor showing of Post members last year. You will get to meet local and area police - and that’s not a bad thing! Please advise John Schenk by January 5th if you plan to attend the dinner. January 17th will be “Our Day on the Hill” in Washington, D.C. Members will drive to American Legion State Headquarters in Richmond, then leave from there by bus to D.C. “Think about this, it’s your benefits we’re fighting for.” We did not make 100% membership, but we did good. The December meeting membership report was 82%. Byron Pianalto has done an outstanding job. This guy you never want to lose. He can and will do anything to help you. Membership dues will go to $30.00 for renewals effective January 10th, but should have been paid to the Post by December 20th, 2006 allowing for the mail delivery. Hope you didn’t miss the boat. For God and Country, Mary Lee Lupejkis
FIRST VICE COMMANDER: Membership is at 85% with a total of 960 members renewing. Please renew if you have not done so. Thank you to all who have renewed and helped us reach 85% of our 100% goal. For God and Country, Byron Pianalto

I would especially like to thank Dawn Thomas and the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary for all their help. Also, thanks to all the Post officers and members who came out and helped. Thanks to the Sons of the American Legion for your contributions and help. The kids had a great time and all enjoyed Santa and Mrs. Claus. I would like to thank Ted from Chanellos Pizza and everyone who donated sweets. Guess the parents are still pulling the children off the ceiling. We are expecting a great time New Year’s Eve. The Freedom Band is a new band to Post 327. Let’s remember to support all Post activities and expect the best, because Post 327 is the best Post around. HUMOR: What Do You Do All Day? A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?" She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?" "Yes," was his incredulous reply. She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it." Priceless! Have a very Happy New Year. May God bless each of you with good health and happiness. For God & Country, B.J. Miller-Nobles
