AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS: For
those of you who may not be familiar with Post 327 American
Legion Riders, we are Legionnaires who enjoy riding our
motor-cycles for the benefit of our Legion and our veterans.
We promote and support Legion programs through
service to our community, state and nation.
2010 was an exciting and successful year for Post 327
American Legion Riders.
We participated in over 15 riding events throughout
the year ranging from rides designed to raise money for
veterans and their families, to memorial rides such as
Wreaths Across America, honoring the vets laid to rest at
the Albert G. Horton Veteran’s Cemetery in Suffolk, and the
Recovery Memorial Challenge, where we provided motorcycle
escort for the wounded veterans bicycle ride from D.C. to
Virginia Beach.
To learn more about Post 327 American Legion Riders, we
invite you to visit our website at

SQUADRON 327:
Greetings Comrades, First I would like to
thank the Post and John Schenk for a job well done with the
Law and Order Banquet. We had our Detachment Commander Chip
Byers and our Detachment Vice Commander Herbie Williams in
attendance as well as the Department Commander and
Department Auxiliary President. They were very impressed by
the outstanding program Post 327 puts on for our Great Civil
Servants. This program has been used around the state as a
model for other Posts to use. Again, a job well done by all
who helped! NEC Jeff Evans attended the Annual Day on the
Hill in Richmond last week and will be giving a report at
the February Post meeting. This is a very important event
that The American Legion Family does each year. It is a
chance to meet with our Legislators and let them know the
issues that the American Legion stands for in order to help
and protect our Veterans rights. When a couple of bus loads
of people pull up on Capitol Hill all at once they tend to
listen, and the American Legion has gotten a lot of Bills
passed that way. Please try and come out on Tuesday Night to
hear what the Legion is doing for our Veterans. We once
again have some SONs who want to CHILL OUT. We will be
sponsoring the Special Olympics Polar Plunge again this year
with a $300.00 donation to let some of the SONs jump into
the Frigid Atlantic Ocean. Better them than me! Please come
out and support our dinner this month. Thanks to all who
have renewed their membership and to those that haven’t
please do so. We have slipped a little in the State rankings
and we need to get back on top! For God and Country, Steve
Gower
ALA PRESIDENT:
Hello ladies!
Hopefully, all our snow is gone, and we are heading
into spring. We had
at least 13 entries last year for the chili cook-off and we
would like to exceed that this year.
It’s been a lot of fun.
Please come out and support your Juniors.
February 11th will be our Valentine steak dinner
and masquerade ball from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Cost: $10 per person.
See DeDee French for tickets to the ball.
Proceeds are going to Girl’s State.
Next month will be the start of nominations for the
new year’s officers.
More about that to follow.
Membership renewals are going really well, and I know you
get tired of me bringing it up all the time, but it is
really important to us for our operating budget.
We would like to make our 100% way before our
deadline. Please
help us.
For God and Country, Nancy Bell
