DECEMBER 2006

COMMANDER’S CORNER:  Well, the holidays are here, and if you missed the Thanksgiving dinner, you missed a real “treat’.  Jim Dunning, Past Commander and Chairman of this event, did an outstanding job in getting the occasion off the ground. Joyce Kelly cooked two days, and of course, Post and Auxiliary members brought covered dishes. So, thank you all for a job WELL DONE!  December 22nd will be our Club Christmas Party. Time: 7-10:00 p.m.  NO CHILDREN!  Each member can bring only 1 guest.  We are also asking you to bring a covered dish, finger foods, or dessert. The bartenders have the night off, and the Association Board will be your drink servers, be kind to them.  Membership has slowed somewhat, so if you haven’t renewed, time is getting short before the dues go up. You really should pay by 20 Dec. if you want the $25 rate.  Sure would be nice to get the 100%, as our membership chairman, Byron, has really worked double hard.  Take time to help him make goal. Best wishes to you all for a Happy and healthy holiday. Hope Santa is good to you. For God and Country, Mary Lee Lupejkis

SOME “DEAR ABBY” HUMOR“Dear Abby, a couple of women moved in across the hall from me.  One is a middle-aged gym teacher, and the other is a social worker in her mid-twenties.  These two women go everywhere together, and I’ve never seen a man go into their apartment or come out.  Do you think they could be Lebanese?  Dear Abby, I’m a 23-year-old liberated woman who has been on the pill for 2 years.  It’s getting expensive, and I think my boyfriend should share half the cost, but I don’t know him well enough to discuss money with him.  Dear Abby, my mother is mean and short-tempered.  Could she be going through her mental pause?”  Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  May God bless each of you with good health and happiness.   For God and Country, B.J.
