SQUADRON 327 COMMANDER:
Greetings Comrades! FIRST NOTICE: Your
squadron elections will be held at the June regular meeting. Anyone
interested in running please see any squadron officer. This is a
good time to get involved to help us continue growing locally and
within the State and National rankings. If you don't want to take
an office at least come out and show your support by voting for your
leaders for the coming year. By now the playground has been taken
down and a new one will be in place for the Memorial Day Picnic. A
lot of children will be happy this summer playing in the new
playground at our picnics. Thanks to everyone who helped and
supported the Boxing match. I was unable to attend because of the
Dept. Spring conference but was told the hall was standing room
only. Special thanks to (BIG) Jimmy Norton for putting this
together and bringing in a lot of customers. At the Spring
Conference the Detachment of Virginia was proud to welcome our S.A.L.
National Commander Tommy Cisna. We showed him how Virginia is
becoming one of the top Detachments in the country by bringing in
almost $15,000.00. This was a combined effort from a lot of
squadrons around the state just like us that work hard year in and
year out. Even the Legion Department Commander, who happens to be a
past Detachment Commander, was surprised at what we took in. All
the dinners, ticket weekends, boxing matches, etc. made this
possible, so please continue to support all your Legion Family
Fundraisers. I would also like to thank all our Family Membership
for working so good together. I know Jeff and I felt real proud
when Commander Linwood Moore and Past Commander Scott Williams both
gave reports in front of the National Commander and said what a
great Post we have. They both said that 327 is truly a Legion Family
that works together and some other Posts should look at us as a
model for them. Commander Moore was so impressed with our LAW &
Order Night that he took what we did back to Colonial Heights in
order to help start a program there. So to everyone, I would like
to say THANK YOU and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Have a great summer.
For God and Country, Steve Gower, Sr.
ATHLETIC OFFICER: Well the State Bowling Tournament is over, and I’m sure Post 327 did as usual an OUTSTANDING job. First off, let me thank the two people who were at my side throughout the tournament and that were my two tournament co-chairmen Jean L. and Jeff E. The Son’s did a great job on Friday night with the fish fry and the Auxiliary came right back the next night with a great steak dinner. Thank you 327 Association for the entertainment on Friday. Everyone was talking about Tim both Saturday & Sunday. Now, for the people who work the tickets that weekend, you are all great. Joyce, Jean, Cliff, Dave, Annie, BIG JERRY and all the others. The individuals who worked Saturday & Sunday at the bowling alley: Big Jim P., Jerry M., Bob Durand, Tony C., Joyce, Susie, Jenn, Steve G. The Rock, W. T., Mike O., Otha, Rose, Lee A. and Ivan M., Dot Parker, Post CDR B.J. Miller and "Skip Who". Special THANK YOU to John S. for a great job at doing what he does so well and Debbie who was there the whole time. We had a Junior there also (a 1st) and Thank You Ashlee G. I have not finished the hours yet, but this tournament just at the bowling alley will be around 400 hours. I must also thank the 50 and over softball team for donating over 30 door prizes for the tournament. THANKS guys. For God and Country, Jim Norton
ASSOCIATION CLUB MANAGER: Please! Please! Please! If you have a problem while in the Clubroom or if you see something happening that you feel is against House Rules, TAKE IT TO THE MANAGER OR TO THE BARTENDER ON DUTY- DO NOT try to handle it yourself. One member does not have the authority to tell another member what they should or should not do. We have responsible people working, and it should be handled by the person on duty. Thank You!!! For God and Country, Sandi Wright
HUMOR: Two boys were playing baseball. The pitcher threw the ball, and the batter connected with a crack. "Wow!" the pitcher said. "It's a run home." "You mean a home run," the batter replied. "No, I mean a run home. You just hit the ball through the neighbor’s window!”
EDITOR: May God bless each and every one of you with good health and happiness. For God and Country, B.J. Miller
